Remote Game Evaluations to grow your Golf Coaching business

In my experience, the first steps when engaging with new golf students, should always be:

  1. Understanding their goals and aspirations

  2. Evaluating their current abilities

  3. Creating a Game Plan to achieve their goals

Create rich Golf Lesson Reviews for your students

Hi there,

Have you ever sent a student a Lesson Review and wished you an extra explanation to help them fix their problem?

Templates can help you

Let’s take the common scenario of the slicing golfer.

In addition to your Lesson or Swing Review you sent them, you might also want to explain the root cause to them.

Golf Lesson Review

They might strike it on the heel of their driver and need to understand Gear Effect.

Or they might just need to understand the path/face relationship better.

… or it might be an issue with their grip.

Inside Templates in Golf Coach App, you’ll find graphics and videos that you can use to explain these concepts to your students easily.

Create a video of these images, add your own face to the video and make it personal to your student.

YOUR STUDENTS WILL LOVE THIS!

Golf Coaching vs Golf Teaching

Hi there,

A lot of what is offered as Online Coaching is actually just Online Teaching.

Let me show you the difference between the two and why it matters.

Teaching is when you distribute information to your students, like videos, books or any other content that teaches them techniques, swing theories, strategies etc.

It’s information without connecting that information to a specific problem.

What is Coaching then?

Golf Coaching works a lot like your GPS navigation app. The first thing the app does when you switch it on, is to figure out where you currently find yourself.

bettergolf.online-2-2.png

Only when it knows your current location can it give you directions to your destination.

bettergolf.online-5-2.png

It’s the same for your students’ golf games.

You have to understand where they currently find themselves and what the root cause of their problem is, before you can start taking action, fixing the problem and giving them directions.

This is why watching random videos about golf instruction is so ineffective in helping golfers play better golf.

Without analysis of the problem, how can a golfer know whether the remedy they are watching and then implementing, applies to them?

This is why we created Golf Coach App the way we did, since it enables Coaching as well as Teaching.

It's the most efficient way for students to learn and improve their games.

  1. Students fill in their goals, giving you a sense of where they want to take their game

  2. Data from their on course play sync through to their Coach via Golf Stats Coach

  3. High quality videos with shot information give you an ability to give them great feedback

My Coaching Libary enables you to add a Teaching component to your Coaching

So keep in mind, your students are interested in going to their destination, help them get there through a combination of Coaching and Teaching.

Use a Value Ladder to grow your Golf Coaching business

Hi there,

Let me tell you a story about pricing.

Many years ago I was Coaching at a golf club and struggling to get people to pay me for my golf lessons.  Like most Coaches I only offered 1-on-1 30 minute and 1 hour lessons.

The most valuable thing I had to sell, 1-on-1 time with myself, was the only thing I was selling.

I then had a prominent businessman tell me the story of ice cream shops one day. It made an impression.

He said, "Ice cream shops have 45 flavors on offer to sell vanilla and chocolate."

This got me thinking.

I needed a line up of products or services, or value ladder to grow my business.

See the example of an online services business below.

Golf Coaching pricing

Without even knowing what these services are, which service are you drawn to?

The Small of course for $149/mo. It's the "most popular", it's highlighted and compared to the $499/mo it looks like a great deal.

Now if this business only offered the Small service at $149/mo, they might have a hard time selling it.

It's a bit like offering 1-on-1 lessons as your only option.

So here are a couple more you can add to your value ladder this year.

Hybrid Coaching

  • Some in person, some online.

  • Schedule a 2 hour slot once a week and let all your students that are part of this program come out at the same time.

  • Not everybody will make it every week and not everybody will be there for 2 hours each week.

  • The rest of the time you Coach them online.

  • It's a lot easier to manage 10 or 15 students like this than you might think.

  • Charge a recurring monthly fee for this

Online Coaching

  • No doubt you have some students that just don't have any time to slot into your schedule.

  • Online Coaching is the perfect option for them.

  • Golf Coach App and Golf Stats Coach makes this really easy to do.

Add these services to your offering this year, I know it will make a difference to your business.

You don't need more students to grow your business

Hi there,

It is only natural to think that to grow your Golf Coaching business you need more students.

In most cases this is just not true.  The solution is to have longer relationships with the students you already have and to interact with them more freqently.

Not only is this strategy great for the Coach/Student relationship, studentsget better results and you grow your business.

Let me show you what I mean.

Below is a graphic of a Coach that decided to intentionally structure his Coaching packages in a way where he moved away form one off lessons to selling Game Plans from 5 to 50 lessons at a time.

Screenshot 2019-07-25 at 09.49.25-2.png

This simple change in strategy helped him dramatically change the amount of lessons he did from one year to the next (blue line vs black line) in the process growing his business.

With Golf Coach App you have the opportunity to increase the frequency of feedback to your students, growing your relationship with your students as well as your business.

Not only is Golf Coach App a great tool to use during golf lessons, but if fills the gaps between lessons perfectly.

Use Golf Coach App as a lesson review tool as well as Remote Coaching tool when your students are not with you.

Online Golf Coaching Success, step by step

Hi There,

2020 is the year that every service that would eventually be offered online, got accelerated and is now happening.

It's the same for golf coaching.

At Golf Coach App we see and talk to a lot of Golf Coaches all over the world.  Some are succeeding unbelievably well in taking their coaching offering online, supplementing their income and freeing up time and some not.

Here's what I see with the successful ones.  You can do the same by following these steps.

1. Start with your in-person students
When a student comes for an in-person golf lesson, get the student to download Golf Coach App and give them feedback of the lesson inside the app.

2. Encourage your student to send you a video

This can be when they go work on the things you mentioned to them during the lesson or when they play on the golf course. When you receive their video, send them a response promptly. This is often the light bulb moment for a student, when they realise they can get value from their Coach without being with them in person.

3. Keep the conversation going

Send your students daily nuggets of value. This is as easy to do as to copy the interesting golf related post you see on social media and broadcast messaging it to all your students. Golf Coach App has the broadcast messaging feature built in.

4. Show them value

When your student starts engaging with you via Golf Coach App and they see the value you can add to them with your online feedback it's time to make them an offer.

5. Make an offer and close the deal

Make them an offer for a monthly fee, add in a bit of a discount to where they cannot resist and start growing your subscription income from Coaching students online, one by one. You can collect subscription or once-off Coaching fees from students via Golf Coach App.

Hopefully you can take these principles and make them your own.  If you need some help with this, feel free to reach out to me.

Martin
